Prayers

Adult & All Age

Call to worship

Let us come from our everyday and our routine
and meet with God – the one who made us,
and who gave us our daily bread
through the week just gone.

A gathering prayer

Loving Lord,
thank you that you meet us where we are,
in the middle and muddle of our daily tasks.
Help us to hear your call,
to recognise your voice,
and to respond to your invitation
to be with you now.
Amen.

A prayer of approach

The Lord called the disciples to be fishers of men.
He calls us to follow him, to trust in, rely on and have confidence in him.
Come, let us cast our nets into his waters and offer ourselves in worship and praise.
Amen.

A prayer of adoration

Response after each line:

we pour out our hearts in praise.

God of our salvation:
God of glory:
God our rock:
God our refuge:
God of mercy:
God of loving kindness:
God of power:
God who calls ‘follow’:
lead us where you would have us go.
Amen.

Prayers of penitence

A prayer of confession

Ask a different person to read each bold line from their place.

Lord, just like Jonah, fear can prevent us from spreading your good news’, or from responding to your call to do something different.

Fear of being unpopular.
Fear of being inadequate.
Fear of having to give up possessions.
Fear of losing people we love.
Fear of losing friendships.
Fear of hard life changes.
Fear of becoming different.

We are sorry, Lord, for giving in to our fears.
We’re sorry for allowing social or family pressures to influence our decisions.
Help us to respond to your call without hesitation.

Help us to lean on you.
Help us to trust in you.
Help us to learn from you.
Help us to follow you.
Help us to spread the good news.
We ask in your powerful name.
Amen.

Assurance of forgiveness

Jesus, you came proclaiming the good news of God,
and endured the cross through love for us.
Through your sacrifice, we are forgiven.
May we share this good news
– so that others will know your loving freedom in their lives.
Amen.

A prayer for all ages together

Thank you, Lord,
that when it is stormy all around us, (wave hands vigorously)
your love is changeless. (hands over heart)

Thank you, Lord,
that although we are broken people, (mime pushing people away)
your love is changeless. (hands over heart)

Thank you, Lord,
that your compassion overwhelms us, (hold fists out in front of you)
and your love is changeless. (hands over heart)
Amen.

A prayer of praise and thanksgiving

Invite people to write down something good that has happened to them recently, then to place their paper in a fishing net at the front.

We thank you, Lord, for all these blessings caught in your net of good news.
Thank you for the changes you have brought about in our lives,
and the difference you continue to make as we follow and learn from you.

Thank you that you never ask us to go beyond our capabilities.
Thank you for the many blessings we receive when we follow through on what you ask of us.
May we be a blessing to others in your name, by spreading the good news.
Amen.

Prayers of intercession

God of the past and of the future,
we bring to you in prayer those people and places on our hearts today:

We remember the parts of the world
where people are being killed, oppressed and displaced.
We pray especially for the people of Tigray in Ethiopia,
for the people of Dafur in the Sudan,
for the Uighur peoples in China.
May those in power leave behind violence and follow your call to peace.
Amen.

Lord Jesus, you called fisherman as they worked,
so we pray for fisherman today as they struggle to make a living.
We pray for all those who work to bring food to our table
as they struggle with the complexities of legislation and the challenges of extreme weather.
And may those who exploit or abuse leave behind cruelty and follow your call to compassion.
Amen.

We pray for all young people caught up in and trapped by gang violence,
for those who have been stabbed or shot and for their families,
for those who live in fear of being attacked,
for those who have been imprisoned, who have committed murder – and for their families,
for all those who carry weapons.
Help them to leave behind despair and to follow your call to hope.
Amen.

We pray for the people of America as Joe Biden begins his term as President,
and for Kamala Harris and all those entrusted with the responsibility
of re-shaping and re-uniting the states that make up that vast nation,
so divided by race and politics and so ravaged by Covid.
Help them to leave behind ambition and to follow your call to serve.
Amen,

We pray for one another,
for our church families, our communities, and our loved ones,
for those who feel overwhelmed by the challenges of each day,
for those adapting to new ways of living,
for those who are ill,
for those close to death,
for those who are grieving.
Help us all to leave behind all that separates us from you and from one another
and to follow your call to trust and to love –
in Jesus’ name.
Amen.

A sending out prayer

Loving Lord,
thank you that you meet us where we are,
in the middle and muddle of our daily lives.
Help us to hear your call,
to recognise your voice,
and to respond to your invitation
to follow you whatever we might be doing.
Amen.

Gweddïau ar gyfer Oedolion a Phob Oed  24 - 30 Ionawr 2021

Gwnewch rywbeth gwahanol

Marc 1.14-20 Yr Ystwyll 3

Galwad i addoli

Down o drefn arferol ein dyddiau
i gyfarfod Duw – yr un a’n gwnaeth,
ac a roddodd i ni ein bara beunyddiol
trwy’r wythnos sydd newydd fynd heibio.

Gweddi ymgynnull

Arglwydd cariadlon,
diolch i ti am ein cyfarfod lle rydym ni,
yn hynt a helynt ein bywydau beunyddiol.
Helpa ni i glywed dy alwad,
i adnabod dy lais,
ac i ymateb i’th wahoddiad
i fod gyda thi yn awr.
Amen.

Gweddi ddynesu

Galwodd yr Arglwydd y disgyblion i fod yn bysgotwyr dynion. Mae’n galw arnom ni i’w ddilyn ef, i ymddiried ynddo, i ddibynnu arno ac i roi ein ffydd ynddo. Dewch i fwrw ein rhwydau yn ei ddyfroedd ef a chynnig ein hunain i’w foli a’i addoli.
Amen.

Gweddi o addoliad

Ymateb ar ôl pob llinell:
tywalltwn ein calonnau mewn moliant.

Dduw ein hachubiaeth:
Dduw gogoniant:
Dduw ein craig:
Dduw ein noddfa:
Dduw trugaredd:
Dduw y caredigrwydd cariadus:
Dduw pob nerth:
Dduw sy’n galw ‘dilynwch’:
arwain ni i ble bynnag rwyt am i ni fynd.
Amen.

Gweddi o gyffes

Gofynnwch i wahanol bobl, o’u llefydd eu hunain, ddarllen pob llinell sydd mewn teip trwm.

Arglwydd, yn union fel Jona, gall ofn ein rhwystro rhag lledaenu dy ‘newyddion da’, neu rhag ymateb i’th alwad i wneud rhywbeth gwahanol.
Ofn bod yn amhoblogaidd.
Ofn bod yn annigonol.
Ofn gorfod rhoi’r gorau i’n meddiannau.
Ofn colli’r bobl rydym yn eu caru.
Ofn colli cyfeillgarwch.
Ofn newidiadau anodd yn ein bywydau.
Ofn bod yn wahanol.
Mae’n ddrwg gennym, Arglwydd, am adael i’n hofnau ein trechu.
Mae’n ddrwg gennym am adael i bwysau cymdeithasol neu deuluol ddylanwadu ar ein penderfyniadau.
Helpa ni i ymateb i’th alwad di yn ddi-oed.
Helpa ni i bwyso arnat ti.
Helpa ni i ymddiried ynot ti.
Helpa ni i ddysgu oddi wrthyt ti.
Helpa ni i’th ddilyn di.
Helpa ni i ledaenu’r newyddion da.
Gofynnwn yn dy enw nerthol di.
Amen.

Sicrwydd o faddeuant

Iesu, daethost gan gyhoeddi’r newydd da am Dduw, a dioddefaist y groes oherwydd dy gariad tuag atom ni. Maddeuir i ni trwy dy aberth di. Boed i ni rannu’r newydd da hwn – fel y daw eraill i wybod am dy ryddid cariadus yn eu bywydau. Amen.

Gweddi o fawl a diolchgarwch

Gwahoddwch bawb i ysgrifennu am rywbeth da sydd wedi digwydd iddynt yn ddiweddar, ac yna rhoi eu papur mewn rhwyd bysgota yn y tu blaen.

Diolchwn i ti, Arglwydd, am yr holl fendithion hyn a ddaliwyd yn dy rwyd newyddion da. Diolch i ti am y newidiadau yr wyt wedi eu hachosi yn ein bywydau, ac am y gwahaniaeth yr wyt yn dal i’w wneud wrth i ni dy ddilyn di a dysgu oddi wrthyt.

Diolch i ti am beidio byth â gofyn i ni fynd tu hwnt i’n cyraeddiadau. Diolch i ti am y llu bendithion rydym yn eu derbyn pan fyddwn yn dyfalbarhau â’r hyn y byddi di’n gofyn i ni ei wneud. Boed i ni fod yn fendith i eraill yn dy enw di, trwy ledaenu’r newyddion da.
Amen.

Gweddi ar gyfer pob oed gyda’i gilydd

Diolch i ti, Arglwydd,
pan fydd yn stormus o’n cwmpas ym mhobman, (chwifio dwylo yn egnïol)
fod dy gariad di yn ddigyfnewid. (dwylo dros y galon)
Diolch i ti, Arglwydd,
er ein bod yn bobl fregus, (meimio gwthio pobl i ffwrdd)
fod dy gariad di yn ddigyfnewid. (dwylo dros y galon)
Diolch i ti, Arglwydd,
fod dy drugaredd yn ysgubo drosom, (dal dyrnau allan o’ch blaen)
a’th gariad yn ddigyfnewid. (dwylo dros y galon)
Amen.

Gweddi i gloi

Arglwydd cariadlon,
diolch i ti am ein cyfarfod lle rydym,
ynghanol ac yn nryswch ein bywyd bob dydd.
Helpa ni i glywed dy alwad di,
i adnabod dy lais,
ac i ymateb i’th wahoddiad
i’th ddilyn di beth bynnag fyddwn yn digwydd bod yn ei wneud.
Amen.

Children & Youth

A gathering prayer for children

All sit down.
Are you ready if Jesus calls?
Everyone jumps up and says: We are!
All sit down again.
Are you ready to be daring and different in Jesus’ name?
All jump up: We are!
We are ready to be Jesus’ friends and disciples.
Amen.

A prayer of praise and thanksgiving for children

God of all,
we thank you for the amazing stories of the disciples
leaving everything to follow your Son.
Thank you that you invite us to follow him too.
Amen.

A prayer for forgiveness for children

Lord Jesus,
help us to try new things
and to leave behind old ways
when they separate us from you.
Amen.

A prayer for others (for children)

We pray, Lord Jesus, for those who need to make decisions today:
give them courage.
We pray for those who long to do something different:
give them hope.
We pray for those who are doing their best to follow you:
give them reassurance.
Amen.

A sending out prayer for children

When opportunity beckons: be bold.
When Jesus calls: be ready.
When we are asked to do something different: be prepared.
In Jesus’ name.
Amen.

Pray with a fishing game

Set up a magnetic fishing game and then replace the fish with small paper people, with paper clips attached, for the children to ‘catch’.

Gweddïau ar gyfer Plant ac Ieuenctid 24 - 30 Ionawr 2021

Gwnewch rywbeth gwahanol

Marc 1.14-20 Yr Ystwyll 3

Ymgasglu - Gweddi dros eraill

Gweddïwn, Arglwydd Iesu, dros bawb sy’n gorfod gwneud penderfyniadau heddiw: gwna nhw’n ddewr.
Gweddïwn dros bawb sydd eisiau gwneud rhywbeth gwahanol:
rho obaith iddynt.
Gweddïwn dros bawb sy’n gwneud eu gorau i’th ddilyn di:
rho sicrwydd iddynt.
Amen.

Gweddïo gyda gêm bysgota

Gosodwch gêm bysgota fagnetig at ei gilydd ac yna, yn lle pysgod, rhowch bobl bach papur â chlipiau papur ynghlwm wrthynt i’r plant eu ‘dal’.

Gweddi ymgynnull

Pawb i eistedd i lawr.
Ydych chi’n barod os bydd Iesu yn galw?
Pawb i neidio i fyny a dweud: Ydym!
Pawb i eistedd i lawr eto.
Ydych chi’n barod i fod yn fentrus ac yn wahanol yn enw Iesu?
Pawb i neidio i fyny: Ydym!
Rydym ni’n barod i fod yn ffrindiau ac yn ddisgyblion i Iesu.
Amen.

Gweddi dros eraill

Dduw pawb a phopeth,
rydym yn diolch i ti am y storïau rhyfeddol am y disgyblion
yn gadael popeth i ddilyn dy Fab.
Diolch i ti dy fod yn ein gwahodd ninnau i’w ddilyn ef hefyd.
Amen.

Gweddi am faddeuant

Arglwydd Iesu,
helpa ni i roi cynnig ar bethau newydd
ac i adael yr hen ffyrdd ar ein holau
pan fyddant yn ein gwahanu oddi wrthyt ti.
Amen.

Gweddi i gloi

Pan fydd cyfle yn awgrymu: byddwch yn feiddgar.
Pan fydd Iesu'n galw: byddwch yn barod.
Pan ofynnir i ni wneud rhywbeth gwahanol: byddwch yn barod.
Yn enw Iesu.
Amen.
