Go with God

Adult & All Age

Go with God

Consider together what you have explored, what that means for you and how you will live your faith this week

All age act of worship Session
  • Display or give out slips of paper printed with the words from the end of the Micah reading: ‘What does the Lord require of you,  but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?’ Invite people to share with a neighbour something  that they can realistically do in the coming days that is an example of each of the three ‘rules’. Encourage and help one another if the examples do not come easily.

Go with God 24/7

Encourage everyone to put their faith into action

Continue the process of thinking about how you can put Micah’s rules into practice. Keep a copy of Micah 6.8 close to hand all the time,  and refer to it as often as possible, asking yourself, ‘So, what can I do today?’

Go with God

Consider together what you have explored, what that means for each of you and how it might influence your daily lives. (10 mins)

Activities marked with an asterisk  next to the activity title are in addition to the resources in the Ready to go sessions. Suggested timings for these activities are also shown. NB The inclusion of additional activities varies from week to week.

FOR CHILDREN

Childrens Session
  • Put out two glasses of clean water, for all to see. Put some teaspoons of soil into one, explaining that this is how things can be messed up when we live in our own way or do things that are not good, when we are not pure in heart. The clean glass stands for a life lived as God wants us to: being kind, helping others, being gentle, not showing off. Ask the children to think about the things that might be the mud in their water. Ask: What one thing would you like to work on, to live your life as God wants us to?

Go with God 24/7

Encourage the children to put their faith into action

People find different things difficult in life. Reflect on what those are for you and invite God to bring hope and good in those times.

Childrens Session
Very young childrens Session

Sing

To the tune: This old man

As we go, we must show
all the ways God helps us grow.
We’ve a toolkit, stop and think, what would Jesus do?
He’ll always be guiding you!

FOR YOUNG PEOPLE

Young people Session
  • Explain that ‘living out the Beatitudes’ will look different for each individual, but they have the same hallmarks – humility and service.
  • Ask the young people to think about the different groups that they are part of, and write them down as headings on big sheets of paper.
  • Allow time for everyone to move around the sheets, writing down ways that they could reflect the principles of the Beatitudes in each situation.

Go with God 24/7

Say out loud a different beatitude each morning, to remind yourself to walk humbly with God that day.
